Many old-fashioned techniques have now been replaced by machines that achieve better, faster and more rational work. But in some areas they just cannot be replaced. To this catagory belong the application, smoothing and structuring jobs, where different formed scrapers and trowels are needed. Their use requires practiced and skilfuled hands. The quality of your results hangs closely together with the correkt use of these tools and their condition.

Each tool’s field of application

Scraper

This tool will be of great help when removing rust, dirt, detaching old wallpaper or paint, removing toxic substances, paste, or any residues on the floor.

Spatulas

You will need spatulas if you plan to give a pre-treatment to any surface that requires pre- and coating, or if you have to scratch out or fill in cracks, joints or simple holes. Of course the spatulas will also be of help when removing rust, detaching old wallpapers or paint. Applying and smoothing with substances and for applying paste.

Trowel

You can make make use of a trowel if you have to apply smoothing substances or plaster to large areas. Scraper

Scraping is a technique that removes material from surfaces using a special tool which has relatively sharp edges and through its specific shape has been designed especially for pulling or pushing movements.

Due to their design they are of great help while removing adhesive substances from surfaces.

There are many differently shaped scratchers: so you can use them if you have to remove rust, old paint and dirt, mortar residues or wallpaper

Most of the scratchers can be used with variable, exchangeable blades. The length of the handle decides how much power you have to invest while using the tool, often you are able to use the lever action, especially if you have to hold the tool with both hands while working. There are many differently shaped scratcher blades, for the range of use for them is extremely wide: you will need a special scratcher for derusting and another one for removing old paint, paste or other adherent substances..

Three-edge scrapers in an outsanding stable fitting are appropriate for removing strongly adherent rust or paint residues, while the scratchers with the heart-shaped blades or other various profiled blades are suitable for removing rust from steel constructions and plumbing.

Edge paint scraper:
These scrapers can be used if you have to remove old paint from wooden surfaces or parketts. Profile reversible blades are suitable if you have to work on carved wood or on stucco.

Special scrapers with various blades in different widths

Burn-Off scrapers or double scrapers will make your work easier if you have to remove old paint and they are much more effective than other tools.

If you have to scrape a large surface you can use our wide-wall and ceiling-scrapers. They consist of an elastic wide blade made of spring steel which enables them to adjust to the bumpiness of the wall and reduces the risk of damage to the plaster.

Floor scraper:
These kind of scrapers are fastened onto a long handle. It is suitable if you have to remove old floorings, paste residues or other kinds of coatings.

Our long rust scrapers are particularly useful for derusting places that are difficult to reach – especially for industrial steel constructions or ships.

Wallpaper scraper
You can use them if you have to remove old wallpapers from the wall. But due to the new removal techniques this kind of scraper has become less and less important.

Trowels

A trowel is the tool of your choice if you have to work on a large area, especially on a storefront of a building or on large floor surfaces. It is perfect for any kind of work that involves filling or smoothing cement or finery.

Smoothing trowel
These tools consist of an elastic steel blade with a managable handle. If you plan to work with synthetic rasin finery or other special kinds of finery you will have to use a trowel made of stainless steel or plastic, otherwise the trowel blades will cause rust traces in the finery.

Pointing Trowels: (i.e. pentagon trowel)
These are the tools for fine-tuning your work. They will help you with all the edges and angles in- and outdoors.
Plaster floats or various shaped trowels with trapezoid, triangle or rounded blades are indisposable if you have to work with mortar or other smoothing substances on the storefront of a building, on thermal insulations, or during the completion of interiors. Also in this case please use a trowel made of stainless steel or plastic, otherwise the trowel blade will cause rust traces in the finery.

Joint trowels are indisposable while working on narrow joints or stripes. They are especially helpful while tiling.

For applying a paste or other adhesive substance it is most helpful to use scrapers (spatula) or trowels with ridged blades. It gives the tool a stabile hold on the surface and regulates the required amount of the applied substance.

Notched scratchers are particularly indisposable if you have to lay and adhere a flooring, or to apply thermal insulations to the walls. Notch Size and shape depends on the required amount and the consistency of the paste. Please note: if the notched trowels or scrapers are worn out, that will reduce the amount of the applied substance and can therfore cause difficulties in the adherence

All the tools have to be cleaned carefully after usage. Please note: there must not be any twisted blade edges or nicking in the blade, this could cause defects or it could even ruin your whole work.

The better and more thorough you use the tools, the less filling and sanding are required afterwards. And of course the efficiency of the following painting work depends on this too.

Coating knife:
If you have to smooth a large surface on the storefront of a building you should use the 40 to 60 cm wide spatulas with the narrow steel blades. Special rubber spatulas with abrasion resistant rubber blades can be used for smoothing of a filling or plastic substances, as well as for grouting the tiles or the mosaic.
