Acrylic paint
Acrylic paint is based on water, consisting less than 10% dissolvent, is therefore harmless to health and environment, which makes it the top seller paint on the market. Round 40% of all paint sold in Germany is acrylic paint; in Austria it’s almost 80%. There are many reasons why this kind of paint became so popular for the indoor painting: It is water-dissolvent, odour neutral, can be used for almost all surfaces (if they don’t have to meet any special high impact requirements, or don’t have to shine strongly). But among all the ecological advantages, there is one disadvantage too: you have to use a special brush if you want to use any kind of acrylic paint, otherwise the painted surface will not be covered evenly.
For further details please read the producers information on the paint bin.

mako brush for acrylic paint
We have designed a special painting tool to meet the extraordinary requirements of acrylic paint. It has been made of a special kind of fiber mixture and has a specially designed slitting.

The fiber block has thousands of slittings, it feels soft and guarantees for velvety, glossily and evenly covered surface. On the other hand it enables you to cover a high amount of square meters in a short period of time. You can identify the mako brush for acrylic paint by the blue colour in the mako colour guidance system.

Glaze
Glaze type paints are based on oil, are especially shiny and heard wearing and can even be used onto old glaze and will cover even surfaces that absorb much of the applied paint without pre-treatment.
The relatively high proportion of dissolvent makes them cover any surface evenly and glossily. Glaze is very popular for wooden surfaces due to the fact that it isolates the surface from the color-changing substances in the wooden ground, and the film on the top protects the wood from external impact and moisture. Glaze is extremely heard wearing and relatively resistant to many chemical-cleaning substances, on the other hand it is easy to clean.
For further details please read the producers information on the paint bin.

mako glaze brush
For this type of brush we use only a special type of natural bristle.

The specially designed conic and scaly surfaces absorb much of the paint to be used. You can identify the mako glaze brush by the red colour in the colour guidance system.

Varnish
Varnish is based on oil or water. It gives your wooden surfaces the required care and builds the ideal protection layer for wooden pieces in- and outdoors. Varnish penetrates the wood without clogging the pores, so the respiration of the wood is still possible.
After painting you will still be able to see the natural wood patterns due to the translucent consistency of the varnish.
For further details please read the producers information on the paint bin.

mako special varnish brush
We developed for this brush a mix of synthetic bristles with special paint channels with many different profiles.

This open paint channels absorb low viscosity, watery paint and glaze at first and release it while painting very evenly. This way you will achieve an even, glossy cover, and even painting above.
You can identify the mako varnish brush by the green colour in the colour guidance system.

Now you can start...

1. Coat
(applying a ground coat, rust protection etc.)
Use the mako special tools. You can identify them on the gray colour in the colour guidance system.

2. Last covering coat
Not only the right tools an thorough preparation are important for a great result, but also the consideration of a few other things.

Use only mako quality products if you want to achieve a clean, evenly covering last coat.

Before you start painting: press the new mako brush against your palm to remove loose bristles.

Dip the brush into the paint only up to the half of the bristle’s length, and remove the spare paint on the edge of the paint bin before you start painting, this way it will not drop.

Apply the paint evenly and relatively fast, in not too thick layers, to avoid building of thick spots and drops (especially if you have to paint upright or over your head). According to the producer’s information and processing hints, you may also apply 2nd and 3rd coat.

Before applying the last covering coat onto your furniture you should sand it. Please use the mako sanding paper graining 800 – 1200.

Let the paint dry out in an airy place, but do not let the sun shine directly on it.

If you work according to this hints, you painting will be a definite success and you will be able to enjoy the results for a long time!

The right cleaning
After you have finished your painting work you have to clean your tools, so you can also use them the next time you need them.
Please note: remove the spare paint from the brush after painting by moving and pressing it several times on a piece of paper.

Non-water dissolvent paints and glaze must be cleaned with suitable thinner or brush cleaner.
Please read the producer’s instructions on the paint bin.

Water dissolvent paints and glaze can be cleaned with clear water or detergent.
Please follow the detailed producer's instructions on the paint bin.

Important: do not put the brush in the upright position after cleaning, but hang it up for drying. (Otherwise the bristles can crush, and the brush will become unusable).

mako environmental hint
in case you don’t know what to do with the empty paint bin or the paint remains: some communities provide so-called recycling bin containers. But did you know that you also can let the spare paint dry out in the bin, or that you can add saw dust to emulsion or low viscosity paint and thicken it, and after drying out you can dispose it in a regular waste bin?

Many paint bins and buckets are marked with the green point (brand label), so you can dispose them in the yellow bag or yellow bucket.
Please read the producer's information concerning the consistency and the use of the paint on the bin!

We guarantee the high quality of our products!

Should you have any problems with one of ours quality products against to our expectation, please contact us, or your specialized adviser.
